On the banks of the river Adige in the centre of the
Val Venosta tourist area is the small town of Laces
(Latsch in German). With the Stelvio National Park in the immediate vicinity,
you will be sure to find unique landscapes, an intact flora and fauna, and
plenty of opportunities for getting close to nature.
The municipality, which
has about 5,000 inhabitants, is known for its many days of sunshine, so it is
appreciated by people to like to walk in the mountains in good weather. But Val
Venosta is also a favourite destination for winter sports enthusiasts, who will
be delighted by the Ortles Ski Arena.
In addition to
spectacular scenery and first class accommodation, at Laces you can find
historic fortifications, such as the ruins of Obermontani and
Untermontani, and churches and chapels with splendid paintings
and frescoes, such as the hospital church of the Holy Spirit or the
chapel of St. Stephen. During your stay at Laces, in the splendid
alpine region of South Tyrol, you absolutely must not fail to visit the
Schloss Goldrain culture centre.
